2024 Winter Wreath Workshop

It is time to make Ginny and maybe you cry from all the beauty in this world! Ha! Or laugh and have a fun easy time. Yes let’s get together and enjoy these lovely Ypsi vibes, and see all the brave people who also want to create something, including a fun memory. Let’s dig in, put love into the world and opt to create, to try, to be around others, instead of simply buying some plastic crap. Yes! We don’t have crap! Let’s use those good old “5 W’s” with that rebel “How” to get you all the info.

Everyone! We have groups of friends, families, co-workers, couples, kids, grandmas and lots of folks come solo because they are a badass and want to do cool stuff even if their friends are not available because “the game is on”;) Come anyway!

If coming in a group, you do not need to sign up all at once together. Simply sign up for the same day and time and we will seat you together.

We will have premade Kits of mixed greens that you can hold like a big heavy baby; silky Cedar, fragrant Fraser Fir, mean but cool Juniper, contrasting Concolor, touch of good old White Pine, mix broad leaves like eucalyptus, boxwoods, bay (darn do I love bay) and a big scoop of Michigan Hollyberry-shoot! Ya we have the goods, total greens snobs.

Each Kit will make a super fluffy 16” wreath or two solid 14” wreaths.  Kits include frame(s) and wire. You are 110% welcome, even encouraged, to bring your own wreath frame. We are all about reduce, reuse, recycle and DIY.  Since the price of the Kit includes the frame, if you BYOFrame we will offer you some extra holly. We will have tutorials, examples, pruners, wire cutters, etc. We will have work gloves, dried flowers, and ribbons for sale. Please feel free to bring your own gloves and any additions for yourself or to even share at our “Extras table”.

You can make your wreath with us at Corner Brew or take your kit(s) to go. Choose your day and start time if making on site or choose your pick up day if taking a to go Kit. Choosing to make your wreath with us at Corner Brew scores you a huge half of a table for your 2 hour time slot. Your half of a table will be plenty of room to cut up your bundle and make either one 16” wreath or two 14” wreaths.  We will also have wreath kits available on our Flower Shop page for pick up at our home studio after Dec 8th until we sell out.

The Corner Brew at 720 Norris St, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. Get a beer, a cider, and some food. They also have non-alcoholic options. Easy enough parking, yay!

The Winter Wreathing Workshop is December 1st and 7th, from 12 noon-2pm and 2:30-4:30pm.

Wreath directions:
You are amazing, anyone who does something like this is the best kind. Thank you for being here:)

Simple Directions
1 Cut your bundle into pieces
2 Attach your wire
3 Place some pieces on your frame and wrap with wire
4 Place some more pieces on TOP of the stems you just placed, don’t go underneath. Wrap again. No need to weave, simply wrap.
5 Continue and do not cut your wire till the end, only cut your wire one time, when you are done.
6 Tuck in any bits to make it even cuter.

Detailed Directions

1.Undo the wire from your bundle and set aside to use later.
2. Cut all your pieces into smaller 4”-12” sized pieces
3. Make darling piles of cut pieces keeping the same type together, you’ll have 6-7 piles.
3 1/2. Sidestep-If you are new to this, or simply like doing it this way or making a wreath as a group I recommend to you do this intermediate step. Make cute little bunches of greenery with 3-6 sprigs per and wire them together about 1/2” from the bottom. Do this with all your material. You will have something like 15-40 darling little bunches.

4. Preparing your Frame
If you have a Wire Wreath Frame the “U” goes down, attach your wire to any spot on the frame where the wires cross, it really doesn’t matter. Wire frames wreaths are meant to be completely covered, fluffy and round, you will work in one direction till it is all covered.

5. Build your wreath
Place a few sprigs or (one of our bundles if you did the Sidestep 3 1/5) and wrap the wire over them to secure them to the wreath base.  No need to weave the wire through the frame, simply wrap it once or twice. Place a few more sprigs just a couple inches below your first set of sprigs, you will be covering the first set of stems and wrapping again. As you work you are moving towards yourself. No not try to put stems underneath your previous bunch, that is super hard but everyone wants to do it this way for some reason, including me the first time I made a wreath. Your wreath will be taking shape, contine all the way around, yes the last few sprigs are harder to get in and under, if you get stuck we are there to help.

Honored to be among the makers and doers and fun time folks, thank you for coming, sweet people!

Wishing you a warm season with lots of love and lovely moments:)

Kits are Bigger! Big enough for a huge fluffy 16” wreath or to split and make 2 solid 14″ wreaths.

More Michigan Hollyberry! Holly can look like candy to little kids or curious pets so you can sub your Holly for a bouquet of dried flowers at the event.

More wire!

Wreath Frames are included! Bring your old one and get extra stick of holly instead of a frame.

Ditching the Grapevine wreath bases! Oh why you ask? It gets a little complicated, we may bring the grapevine back in the future.  You are certainly welcome to bring your old grapevine bases. Getting one Kit for the workshop will get you a half of a table, perfect for 2 wreaths, might be crowded for 3+ wreaths.

All Kits are presold and all workshop space is preregistered through the website. We are no longer offering “Open Wreathing.” If there are spots available on the day of, simply order online and be there at your start time. (relaxing sigh:)

MORE ROOM! Sign up for a kit and score a half of one of those huge Corner Brew tables. So if you are splitting the kit to make two 14” wreaths, you will share a half of a table. Coming with a friend and each get a kit to to make 16” wreaths you will be at one whole table-YAS! Room! We will have space for groups of 3’s and for larger groups we will push tables together. You and your group will be seated together, no matter if your party does different sizes, for sure.

Cost is more, yup. Our costs are up, plus we made the kits bigger so they can be split, we included the frame(s) and made more space for folks. So that added up to like $25 more per kit. They will be gorgeous and delicious!

Thank you everyone! Please place all orders through the website and call me or email me with questions at (734) 695-9490 and weadoreflowers@gmail.com.

The team and I are SOOO EXCITED!!
